Molecular sieve foil and its application

Molecular sieve foil is generally described as a material having very small and tiny holes to pass small molecules from them and leaving bigger molecules on the surface. The holes on this foil is small enough to block big molecules to enter through it and the smaller molecules are only allowed to pass through them. The small holes are very precise and uniform according to their application. The most common use of molecular sieve foil is desiccant as in activated charcoal and silica gel.

Some of its applications include its use in the petroleum industry specially for the purpose of purifying the gas streams. It is also very much used in the chemistry labs for the separation of chemical compounds and drying reaction starting materials. One very useful application of this foil is in the filtration of air supplies specially for breathing apparatus.
